Who I Am In Christ | What Does God Say About Me?

Who am I in Christ?  What does God say about me?  Perhaps you’re on a journey to find the answers to those questions and if you are, then you have come to the right place.  I know that I have struggled with my identity, not necessarily having an identity crisis, but sometimes wondering “who am I?” and “why am I here?”

My Identity In Christ

Think about David and when he killed Goliath.  David had such great confidence, but it wasn’t in himself it was in God.  David knew that God would deliver him just like he did all the other times, its important to start seeing yourself as God sees you.

Your identity is linked to the confidence that you have in God some are confident in their outer appearance, their jobs, and other worldly things, but our confidence comes from who we are in Christ.

Who I am In Christ Scriptures

Romans 8:16-17

16 For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children. 17 And since we are his children, we are his heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God’s glory. But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering.

According to this scripture, we are children of God.  Think about it this way…how much do you love your children?  Wouldn’t you do anything for them?  I’m sure you have because of the love you have for them.

That’s what God sees when He looks at you!  He sees you as His child.  Can you imagine what God will do for us since we are His children?  He will take care of us, He will protect us, and He will always provide for us.

Matthew 7:9-11

“You parents—if your children ask for a loaf of bread, do you give them a stone instead? 10 Or if they ask for a fish, do you give them a snake? Of course not! 11 So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him.

You need to see yourself as a child of God.  That's who you are!  You are God’s child.

Colossians 3:3-4

For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory.

How important we must be to God since He hid our life with Christ.  Jesus is God’s only begotten Son, but we are adopted.

Ephesians 1:5-6

God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure. So we praise God for the glorious grace he has poured out on us who belong to his dear Son.

I think that if we could just see God as our loving Heavenly Father, that would change the way that we see ourselves.  This is one of the most important points when trying to figure out who you are in Christ you need to believe what God says about you.

Who I Am In Christ

Everyone wants to identify with someone or with something because it makes us feel connected, we feel like we belong.  But we shouldn’t desire to identify with worldly things we need to identify with God.

Our Identity In Christ

If you know that you are a child of God then you know that there are benefits and rights that you have as a child of the Almighty God.

You won’t live in defeat and below the level that God has planned for you.

If you know who you are, then you won't take any of satans mess.  You will tell him where to go and remind him who you are and who your Father is.

If we could all grasp that we are children of God, it would change our entire outlook on life.  I say we, including myself because there are still some areas in my life that I need to recognize that I am a child of God and overcome those situations.  There are still some areas that I need to believe what God says about me.

Finding My Identity In Christ – What Does God Say About Me?

Repeat this to yourself “I am a child of God, God is my Father.”

How did it feel to say that and truly believe it?

Can you imagine?  You are the child of the creator of this world?

I know that it may be hard to grasp that thought in your mind, that's why we need to meditate on who I am in Christ verses and study these scriptures so that the Holy Spirit can give us the revelation that we need.

Don’t identify with the negative situations in your life.  Say I am a child of God and because I am a child of God, I am healed, I am not poor, I am protected.  As you learn to identify yourself with Christ then you will realize that you are somebody and you were created for a purpose.
